A platform bioadhesive is needed that allows inclusion of both biosensing, tissue fixation, and drug delivery to solve current unmet clinical needs. PHASA is a multiple use fluorescent RNA sensor that limits dependence on fluorescence intensity while requiring no washing steps. The platform bioadhesives are synthesized by grafting metastable precursors on liquid prepolymers to form transparent one-pot adhesives that crosslink upon energetic activation of light or voltage. The new PHASA fluorescent sensing mode aims to be applied with tissue adhesives for implantable biosensing.
