Current work on resting state functional MRI from Parkinson's disease patients with different levels of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Preliminary results show that PD-MCI patients show a desynchronization or functional disconnections between visual and motor cortices which are in line with the visual-spatial impairments often present as symptoms of MCI. Results from this analysis might have implications on the current diagnosis criteria for MCI in PD, and in the designing of alternative treatments for patients with PD-MCI.
