The quantification of cellular events is becoming increasingly important in systems and synthetic biology. Cellular events are stochastic, and therefore their robust characterization requires large sample sizes, particularly for rare events at a single cell or for a single lineage. We have developed a microfluidic platform and an image analysis pipeline for single-cell or single-lineage level time-lapse measurement of fluorescence-marker based cellular events. The key hardware and software components in the making of this platform will be presented.
