In recent years, the ease and availability of whole genome sequencing and the remarkable advances in genome editing techniques has led to previously unimaginable speed in the evolution of bioengineered cell lines. However, limitations in traditional scientific communication makes the scrutiny and utilisation of bioengineered species difficult for the wider scientific community.

In this talk, I will discuss the problems of reproducibility, transparency and biosecurity, and describe a solution based on the use of digital twins and molecular barcoding of bioengineered cells.
